Originally built in 1876 as a general store and then renovated in 1918 for the Farmer’s National Bank Building. the bank continued to operate the building until 1949. numerous owners and tenants left the building in poor repair. in 2006 the building was newly renovated to accommodate a modern, functional retail space and luxury loft apartment on the courthouse square in Brenham.

the commercial space at the ground floor also known as beadboard upcountry was fitted with a new accessible storefront, exposed structural members, reuse of original ceiling materials, and a new restroom.

the second floor was converted into a loft apartment of approximately 1,390 square feet, including new windows, fixtures, and finishes.

The retail space in the Farmer’s National Bank building was recognized as the Best Commercial Interior by the 2007 Texas Downtown Association Design Awards.
